Our Leadership

Steven Morris [elder, pastor]

Steven is first and foremost a Christian, a son of the living God and an unworthy servant and follower of Jesus Christ. All of his Presbyterian and Reformed convictions and any other secondary credentials pale in comparison to this one blessed reality. He is also husband to his beloved wife, Karen, and father to their five children. He is a theological/historical bibliophile, a lover of the Holy Scriptures, a passionate shepherd of God’s people (under Christ, the Chief Shepherd), an evangelist, apologist and counselor, an avid musician, a devotee of J.S. Bach, a homesteader, and a particularly pervasive partaker and purveyor of peculiarly piquant peppers (and alliteration). He holds undergraduate degrees in English and History from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He is currently working in earnest toward certification in pastoral counseling with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). Steven was called as an elder/pastor at Resurrection Church in 2016.

Bob Sanford [deacon]

Bob was born and raised on a farm by Christian parents in rural Virginia. He received a BA in Religious Studies in 1983 from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA with the intent to become a minister, but God called him to a different kind of ministry. In 1986, Bob met and married his dear wife, Katherine with whom they have raised eighteen children (3 birth; 15 domestic & international adopted). He has been employed with State Farm Insurance since 1988 which included a moved from his home state of Virginia to Illinois in 1997. Bob and Katherine became members of Resurrection Presbyterian Church in 2006. In 2008, Bob was called to the office of Deacon, and also accepted the position of treasurer, in which he has served faithfully ever since.

Ashton Bandy [deacon]

Ashton is thankful to have been serving in the role of Deacon since 2022. He has attended the church since the early 2000’s, seeing the Lord bless and prosper the work in the Peoria area community. Child of the Father, husband to Jennifer, father to three children, and fellow laborer for the Kingdom, he also serves at Samaritan Ministries International and a variety of local groups involving homeschooling, pro-life, and neighborhood outreach. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Thomas Edison State University but believes that education is a life-long journey, desiring to see God’s blessings upon His people and learning every day to have the Gospel proclaimed in every sphere of life.
