“Man’s chief and highest end is to glorify God, and to fully enjoy him forever.”
These words, found in the answer to the first question of the Westminster Larger Catechism, encapsulate the essence of our mission and vision here at Resurrection Presbyterian Church. We believe that God is most glorified in and through us as we strive in faith to live moment by moment in a manner that demonstrates and proves our dependence upon and satisfaction in Him.
Therefore, at Resurrection Presbyterian Church we strive to truly and deeply enjoy the Lord as we glorify Him, growing together in God’s grace and truth. As such, our worship is prayerfully designed to be grounded in God’s Word, engaged in for God’s glory, and empowered by the grace and Spirit of God. It is our prayer that all who worship with us experience the presence, passion, and power of the Triune God!
The leadership of Resurrection Church is committed to communicating the truths of the Bible to the end that all come to a saving knowledge of Jesus. It is only through trusting in Jesus that one can be truly free of the burden of sin and equipped to live a victorious life. Most importantly, if you do not know Jesus, it is our hope and prayer that you come to know Him here. Saint Augustine once said that “our hearts are restless until they find rest in God,” and we believe that he was absolutely right. We were made in the image and likeness of God and are never truly content until we find our rest in Him. It is our prayer that through ResPres you may truly know Him.
Resurrection Church is a community of saints who strive to live in unity with one another, while proactively being witnesses of the power of God to a lost world. Our desire is to see the good news of the Gospel spread to every household in Central Illinois, and beyond!
Resurrection Church is a family-integrated, generationally-inclusive church. We encourage all who come to actively participate together in our times of worship, teaching, and fellowship – regardless of age. Our children are not sent away from the rest of the church to ‘children’s church’ or separate Sunday school classes during the worship hour! As Jesus said in Matthew 19:14, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” To this we say, “Amen and amen!” If needed though, we do provide a room for use by mother’s with nursing infants, and we have “mother’s helpers” ready to assist if your hands are full.
Resurrection Church is also a member congregation of the Covenant Presbyterian Church denomination (covenant-presbyterian.org), an assembly and fellowship of churches committed to believing, growing (deep and wide), and living out Biblical truth in the love of Christ for the glory of God.
We meet every Sunday at 10am at 905 S Maxwell Rd, in Peoria, IL (near the Peoria airport). For all who come and worship with us, we invite you to plan on staying for lunch. Each week, right after worship, we enjoy a wonderful shared fellowship meal, open to all.
